What to expect?

A South Indian wedding is a beautiful blend of sacred rituals, vibrant traditions, and heartfelt celebrations that unfold over several meaningful events. The festivities often begin with the Nischayathartham (engagement ceremony), where families formally come together to bless the couple and announce the union.

This is followed by joyful pre-wedding customs like Mehendi and Nalangu, filled with laughter, music, and playful rituals that strengthen family bonds.

On the wedding day, the muhurtham starts with auspicious rites such as Kashi Yatra and Oonjal, symbolizing the groom's transition into married life and the couple's harmony. The sacred Muhurtam is the heart of the wedding, where rituals like Kanyadaanam, Mangalyadharanam (tying of the sacred thread/thaali), and Saptapadi (seven steps together) mark the spiritual union of the bride and groom.

The celebrations conclude with a grand wedding reception, where friends and family gather to shower the newlyweds with love, blessings, and joyful wishes.
